Jacob Cats, (10 nov. 1577-12 Sept. 1660), a very important dutch Lawyer, Statesman and Diplomat, earned his famous status as popular Poet and author. Although nowadays his literary inheritance seems too popular and with minimal depth, the fact remains that this poet was, and still is to some extend, very popular among the common and well-to-do dutch during the 16th-19th century; his work has been reprinted and re-published many times over. Our copy contains all FIRST EDITIONS. Very rare & much sought after. (bds. somewhat shaved at extremities and especially on spine, 2 heraldic ex-libris pasted-in: inside upper boards and on opposite blank).
